August Wells also opened the Brooklyn Steel show and joined him on stage, as did Breandann O’Beaglaoich and Irish singer David Keenan, who was visiting the US for the first time and played two songs solo. He did “Limerick Town”/”Linger” again at Brooklyn Steel, but later in the set. Both shows also included renditions of Woody Guthrie’s “Vigilante Man” with new verses about Donald Trump worked in.
Pictures are in the gallery above. They’re primarily from Brooklyn Steel but there’s a few shots from Town Hall and Rough Trade too. Setlists from Town Hall and BK Steel, and a video of the “Linger” cover, are below.
Well as it is almost August, it seems apt that I should feature an artist that I have been hearing about for a long time but have not actually investigated. Today is the day I change all that with this post on August Wells.
The band are made up of chief songwriter Ken Griffin and pianist John Rauchenberger. Both have had extensve experience in the music industry before coming together as August Wells. Griffin was a member of Irish indie outfit in the 1990’s; Rollerskate Skinny.
